 Q. as 60 MPs join the #LizTruss 'group', one can only wonder if the #Tories might be about to have an SDP moment?

Might Liz & her chums split from the party?

Given the #Tories record of keeping dissent inside the party & its focus on gaining power, one would think it would be unlikely.... except that the Trussites are already showing scant regard for reality....

A torrid election might force a split? We shall see...
@43d7c4ea It does seem that former holders of high office don’t die, they just keep trying to be re-elected: Trump, Johnson, Truss. Rejection doesn’t mean the same to them as it does with most of us. I see all of this as a distraction to the real and very important issues of the day.
@43d7c4ea I think it shows how extreme many Conservative Party members are. Remember that they elected Truss over Sunak. That she then crashed economy and left job after just 49 days doesn't seem to matter. Truss supporters still bang drum for her and her policies.
@43d7c4ea I don't think they'd need to split after the election - they'd just have to wait till Sunak goes and then re-elect Truss. My guess is that the members would go for her - it wasn't them who got rid of her!

Can you imagine her as leader of the opposition?!
