I remember much effort being made for both Assange and  Ross (more Assange) to be pardoned and released when the topic was being talked about towards his end of office. 

I find it difficult to believe he wasn’t aware.  

I suppose it’s possible I was just too deep in the bitcoin echo chamber to realize how far he was from it.
