Welp, my better half enthusiastically set me up on Nostr, and then left me to fend for myself. 😂 I'm thrilled to be here, but don't even know where to begin. What recommendations do you have for getting started?
Add a profile pic, start posting things, use hashtags on everything, then decide on which wallet to use so you can start making doe.
Thank you! Do you recommend a particular wallet. I've seen alby mentioned. Is is decent?
I don't use alby myself I originally started on Wallet of Satoshi which was alright then the US banned it because they refused to comply with the new transfer laws which require any business in crypto to transfer to cash must require KYC (know your customer) by law. So they were removed frim the google play store & now I can't transfer to cash app to deposit into my bank but thats okay. If you can accept alby's privacy policy then go for it! https://getalby.com/privacy-policy I think most people are now resorting to hosting their own wallet & then using bisq.network to find a reputable person they can meet up with in person & exchange sats for cash.
Okay, very interesting! Yes, the KTC stuff is annoying, and even with the verification the exchanges make us jump through hoops to transfer out. My boyfriend big into privacy, so I'll ask him about using bisq to exchange sats for cash. he hadn't mentioned that option. Thanks for your help! I promise to zap you as soon as I'm all set up. ⚡
Follow lots of people. Like over a 1000, so your feed is full. You can always cull later. Follow hashtags that interest you and follow interesting nostriches in those tags. Find someone you respect, go to their follows and follow everyone on their list. Make sure that you engage with people, comment, zap and boost. Most importantly be yourself, post things you're interested in and tag it. Your Nostr family will find you. 🥰
welcome. Choose some relays. Peruse the global feed to find people that are interesting. Search for subjects that interest you using the # symbol. #grownostr is used by some to mark non-bitcoin, non-programming posts, although I don't think it is used as much as it was a year ago. Once you are following people that interest you, respond to people's posts with comments or zaps. Many people will follow back. You get much less interaction if you only like posts. It can also be handy to put something about you in your profile, so people know that you what you are interested in and what you are likely to post about. I notice that you aren't following anyone. You want to follow people. That is how your curate your feed.
