Are there any clients that remove EXIF metadata when uploading photos? #asknostr
I believe @nostr.build removes all metadata from photo uploads, and @damus' default image hosting is nostr.build when a user uploads an image Does that count? (And is that accurate, @The Fishcake🐶🐾?)
That’s correct!
Perfect, so since I can configure uploads to Nostr.build on Damus, YakiHonne, and Nostur they are g2g. I unfortunately don’t see any option for @primal. Would be nice to know how their uploads work.
AFAIK, primal doesn’t touch file at all, so it is served as is. I could be wrong though.
I use exiferaser from fdroid
Does this work by importing a photo into the exiferaser app, and then uploading to your destination from the app? Or does it happen more automatically/in the background?
Extremely manual
Have you used @nostr.build ? It’s as simple as uploading the photo - metadata stripped, hosting link provided. I guess you can then download the image from nostr.build as well and it’s clean
News to me... I manually strip the metadata and theb upload to nostr build https://media.tenor.com/xVDx_aPbtC0AAAAC/idk-mind.gif
That was one of the first features we added for all uploads. We even show remaining metadata (image size, resolution, etc) after an upload. https://i.nostr.build/uiAer5wLGS9pPcJ2.jpg
Good question. I am on grapheneos and already got this problem solved by default but for most people this is a problem. I would love to see better default privacy in nostr clients and services. Yes I know nostr is a public network, but better privacy is still useful.
