not trying to call you out, i just had questions. The culture is very anti-icon so the images in the back made me question whether it might have been an orthodox church, as the islamists borrow quite a bit from the pre existing christianity, and that church be converted to a candy shop. that would have made sense. however, then i did a google search and found this pop up within the area pictures of the imam mosque which I thought was even weirder. im sure you have more context than me, ive never been nor know anyone who has. just curious.
did you know that iran practiced zoroastrianism before islam was perceived as the main religion by westerners? i wasn’t trying to sound mean at all lol. i apologize.
also zoroastrianism predates christianity and catholicism and is the first monotheistic religion. so the architecture is not orthodox since it predates it by many years.
you learn something everyday. I remember reading/listening somewhere that the magi who came from the east were zoroastrians. ill try to find that video by patristix
From what I learned, I wouldn't consider Zoroastrianism a monotheistic religion. But there are also those who don't consider Christianity monotheistic, either. So... 🤷♂️
it’s literally the first monotheistic religion and we only have one God.
Am I misunderstanding that Angra Mainyu is coequal with Ahura Mazda?
Ah. This is clarifying:
"There are two main reasons why Zoroastrianism is not and should not be considered a dualistic religion. The first is that Zoroastrians do not consider themselves to be dualistic. In their minds, they worship one god, namely Ahura Mazda. Second, the definition of dualism lends credence to the monotheism of the Zoroastrian faith. A basic definition of dualism is “a doctrine that the universe is under the dominion of two opposing principles one of which is good and the other evil.” But Zoroastrians believe in the supremacy of Ahura Mazda."
yes exactly! thank you for willing to learn
Well, what's the point, if not to learn? Zoroastrianism is rather fascinating. I can respect its principles and practicioners. 😁
So you have no idea about orthodox churches too 😂
sure, I'm just ignorant all around i suppose.
We have many to explore. Good that here in nostr we are exposed to many different things.
