If he'd bought enough Bitcoin, he wouldn't have had to sell shares and borrow money to overpay for Twitter. Bitcoin solves this.
I think Elon absoultely understand Bitcoin. But he's also building businesses in the fiat world - walking a VERY thin wire. Elon is not going to buy Bitcoin and build in the Bitcoin eco system - because his dream is colonizing other planets. He does need Bitcoin for this - and he knows it. He bought Twitter because the fiat world needed an outlet to be de-controlled by Government. There are still constraints. He paid what he needed to get control - it was not a financial investment for him. Let's see how this unfolds - maybe I'm wrong. I think we see Nostr integration with Twitter in the next few years as Government puts more pressure on Elon.
Elon Musk does not understand Bitcoin, several posts he’s made show a lack of fundamentals. Elon is intelligent and extremely capable of understanding Bitcoin, but Bitcoin like all technical disciplines takes time to learn and understand and he has finite bandwidth. As you say he is building cars and mars rockets. Despite his lack of understanding, Tesla still hold 9,720 BTC making them the 3rd largest holding public company. Nah, he’s after power and influence and his recent rhetoric has been an attempt to get users back into X. When the next layer of Technocracy gets rolled out he’ll have your tweets which can then get tied to your digital ID/Social credit score, etc.
