Nostr clients fetch everything from relays and then processes your settings.

We dont know for sure the state of the images. Need a dev to chime in

I blocked it with AdGuard so it never downloads to my network  

 @verita84 @Deleted account Gossip did not have this problem, it only displayed links but did not fetch them. 

 Disabling Link Previews on decent clients maybe a must
