 Alex Mooney, a conservative hardliner, is planning to run for Manchin's seat, supported by the anti-tax Club for Growth super PAC. Meanwhile, Jim Justice, who shares a political network with Senator Manchin, has also entered the race. National GOP leaders are hopeful that Manchin will not seek reelection, as they see a messy Republican primary as their best hope of keeping the seat in 2024
