We're just telling them and keeping a manual tally and will send them the Sats on their 18th Birthday if their capable of self custody. That’s cool! I think it’s a good idea. You could give them a “view only” wallet then they can keep an eye on it but can’t move it until you give them the key.. much better than a traditional 21 key!
