 Most of the world uses Winders. It made sense to develop for Winders first if you want higher adoption.

 In 2008, I was also using Windows, but I switched to Mac OS X in 2009. Today, I primarily use Debian on most of my systems, including some of my older Macs that support it. I wouldn't be surprised if Satoshi is using Linux these days as well.
