The open source tools left by Samourai remain some of the best privacy features built on Bitcoin. Paynyms, Stonewall, Stowaway (X2), Ricochet, are all tools which can still be used. Otherwise, joinmarket and even lightning through your own node gives good privacy to the sender
Paynyms only work because the US government chose not to take down paynym.is, a centralized service. Nothing stops them from replacing a username's BIP47 code in the database to route all the funds from new connections to the FBI, though. Cahoots (Stonewallx2 and Stowaway) only work by exchanging QR codes now, far from being as useful as they were when Soroban worked. Ricochet should work with your Dojo as the coordinator, but you'd also be sending a fee to the wallet now controlled by the FBI. Which you can do if you want to, but I would advise against sponsoring terrorism.
Unless the tools get reviewed in depth by some credible security researchers, I wouldn't trust them one second. Rip out the snake oil "features", fix the xpub leak in the mixer and you are left with nothing. Yes, I am not convinced the Samourai devs are not spooks. Unless they really land behind bars for a long time, as far as I'm concerned this was just their exit to plausibly leak all xpubs to the feds.
