negative entropy (negentropy) is a great name for a set reconciliation protocol.
positive/increasing entropy: more disordered, more divergent relays. Negative entropy: more ordered, less divergent relays.
Fun fact: schrodinger coined the term negative entropy to try to build a mathematical theory of life, as he noticed life seems to resist the natural process of disorder.
Maybe you can think of nostr as a living system, perpetually struggling to maintain order by staying in sync with other implementations. or maybe i’ve been listening to too much sara imari walker lately.
I heard the term entropy for the first time in thermodynamic class. The second law says that for a spontaneous process to occur, the entropy of universe must increase. I can relate it to what you said and it makes sense
how dare u say global sync
paradoxically, the universe goes one way, whilst humans chase the opposite.
I love this stuff letme cook with this
viewing life in terms of entropy is interesting... turns out crystal formation is a non-living negative entropy process if you consider it. I talked about it on youtube a few months ago https://youtu.be/dvAsGf-z-LU
Didn't they here make a point that crystal formation is positive entropy? https://youtu.be/-P2rMk3bfkc
if you look up the definition of entropy it says a measurement of the degree of randomness or disorder within a system... I feel like when using example of shaking up objects all of the same size and shape in a confined space and not exerting force in an isotropic manner we are falling for an illusion. really the forces are being exerted by the hand in a controlled and non-symmetrical manner in this video with an intent to order. otherwise they would fly out the open end of the containers
Did you watch the video till the end ... there is not good definition of "order" so defining entropy in terms of order is just a lazy hack.
did you make the video? if not, describe to me in your own words why entropy cannot be defined in terms of degree of ordering. Did you consider that you can order things in a seemingly lazy yet intentional manner?
The burden of proof is on the people that claim there is a good definition of "order" and that you can define entropy in terms of it.
