I'd agree, these new laws are an inane overreach.  But so are employee withholdings.   

They effectively prohibit anyone from hiring an individual unless they accept the role of tax collector on behalf of the IRS.

if you look up the legal definitions of employee it's basically a kind of slave

a contractor does not have the obligation to take direction, only to perform the task to the required standard in the specified timeframe
