Retired machinist. I dabble in carpentry now.
Machinists do some incredible work! Followed🤝 What kind of machining did you specialize in?
Aerospace and military aviation. In my later years I did contract maintenance machining and traveled around to the coal mines in Wyoming and Montana.
I always admired those particular skills, especially being some of the ones I don't (yet?) have. I used to avoid carpentry because I was obsessed with guitar, didn't want to hurt my hands. Now I slaughter animals and butcher, always near saws and blades and hooks etc. I don't worry about my hands at all any more.
