In my teens and early twenties, I got so much joy out of shopping. Now that I’m in my thirties, I get more joy from getting rid of things. Less is more 🤷♀️
In my 60s and it is a joy to divest thoughtfully after a lifetime of acquisition. I feel it is a circle of sorts; one must release one thing to make space for another. Exception: #bitcoin
Yeah it’s an amazing feeling (getting more space for memories instead of stuff). Plus I tend to value the things I have more when I have less. It’s interesting to look back though on how different I am from my past self. I’m sure when I’m in my 60’s I will say the same thing about my current self 🫂
my wife has 4 bikes, 4 😭 wtf dawg!😂
Borders on hoarder. My mother ended in a packed house (it wasn’t like the tv ones) but it was distressing to me (I am a neatnik) and anyone visiting, to the point where few would attempt to do. It is mental illness, and requires patience, compassion, disconnection from attachment to outcomes. It never improves (I organized the house for her many, many times). Love is a choice; people are work. I had to embrace the chaos, accept that it wasn’t my fault, and move on, so that I be there for her.
Smart. You figured that out pretty young. 👍
I had an interesting upbringing that made me grow up/mature quickly in some ways, but be a little stunted in others 😂
Minimalist mindset 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah I guess so. Even though I still have too much stuff. It’s a whole process. I’m just slowly getting rid of what we don’t need and not acquiring anything else.
I heard during a webinar that someone said "if I don't touch something during a year then I gave it, sell it or throw it" I try to use the same rule. I fail sometimes 😁
The less you have the less you need to maintain. Spent the weekend cleaning cars and baby seats 🙄
Exactly! I don’t like organizing or cleaning, but the more decluttering, the easier it gets.
There is a sense of satisfaction from clearing a backlog of admin though, especially quirky jobs like cleaning a baby car seat that hasn’t been touched in 3 years and has fungus growing out of it.
Definitely
All things, possessions, relationships, thoughts, etc. fall on the scale of assets to liabilities. The trick is being aware and honest with yourself about where they fall. You're doing great!
Nice, I have something similar. But these things I have are of better quality and more long-lasting
