Mastering fire-starting techniques can be a lifesaver in emergency situations! If you've seen my previous posts, you know it's **fire month** at Casa de Ava! 🔥

Twice a year, I make it a mission to keep my fire-starting skills sharp by igniting 30-40 fires throughout the month without lighters or matches using:

- Various natural materials
- Different environmental conditions
- Ferro rod (with and without magnesium shavings or petroleum jelly-soaked cotton balls)

I even conjure a couple of friction fires into existence (they are no joke)!

Watch this short video by #Leatherman on how to start a fire using only the Leatherman Signal. **You don't need a Signal. Any ferro rod and steel blade will do:**

Swedish fire steel (ferro rods) are incredible tools. Every emergency kit needs them. Every car, every truck, every boat. The don't expire and are nearly impossible to use up, and they make starting a fire super easy.
💯 I keep one on me at all times.
#POF (Proof of Fire) No. 14 this month! Started in damp and (very) windy conditions using only a ferro rod (fire steel).
