Oddbean new post about login | logout I reapplied thermal paste to my bitaxe and I guess the thermal paste I had was junk because it's hotter now than it was before. I ordered some good thermal paste now so I'll deal with it for a few days.
It literally won't go below 55° even with a big fan and the onboard fan at 100%
Make sure you apply it really well, and not too thick!
Of course. It's on properly just sucks. The new paste will be here in the next few days so that should fix it, if not then.... screw me I guess.
You sure you got good coverage with no air gaps? Thermal paste is the devil and never goes where you want it. I usually end up with more on me than the chip. Cleaning and reapplying couldn't hurt
I've done it 2 times now, it's been the same outcome both times.
