Cui Jianchun welcomed in new foreign ministry role

Cui Jianchun, former Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, has been appointed as the foreign ministry commissioner in Hong Kong. He assumes the role following the departure of Liu Guangyuan. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu welcomed the appointment and praised Cui's extensive experience as a seasoned diplomat. Lee emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR and the SAR government. Cui has previously served as the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in France, Chinese ambassador to Kuwait, and deputy director-general of the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before his diplomatic career, Cui worked in the China National Nuclear Corporation for over 20 years.
