Listened to Peter thiel on Rogan, what was interesting to me is that thiel, despite being one of the richest people on earth and most influential people in tech was visibly nervous for the first hour of the pod. Really shows the power of Rogans platform.
He seems more nervous than usual of late, compared to a few years ago... Not sure what is going on there. Like when Sorkin asked him about Bitcoin recently... He came across as visibly agitated?
Point being I'm not sure it was just the Rogan factor
Joe mentioning Whitney Webb right to his face was pretty wild
You'd think he'd hire someone to teach him not to be an awkward rambling mumbling weirdo. Musk too. Bezos hired someone to help him learn to project confidence idk why these other guys can't. Maybe guilty conscience about something idk
None of them appear to be ”awkward rambling mumbling weirdo” to me. It is your perception, nothing more, nothing less
thiel is also a pedophile so he's got that goin for him.
His longtime friend Reid Hoffman likely is, but what’s the info on thiel. First I’m hearing that.
Besides whitney webb, I am trying to find some more evidence, but it seems like it all goes back to a NYT thing that doesnt even give evidence so ya know what idfk. Maybe he's not.
There is a lot of weird underage stuff in the gay community so you’re not wrong to be suspect but I think thiel is not. just my personal opinion.
About halfway through, I agree with your assessment. He seemed stunned by a couple of the questions and didn’t appear too sure of the best way to respond. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, I recall listening to a Lex Fridman episode where he mentioned Peter Thiel. Lex mentioned something along the lines of, "I'd like to have him on, but he's too powerful and important to engage in any free-flowing conversation, except those centered around a single theme." Maybe that bit of information is influencing my perspective, but I think the reason he seems nervous is that this might be the first time he’s participating in a public, free-flowing discussion. If most of his interview experience has been confined to narrow themes, then free-flowing for millions of people to listen to would definitely be a significant change of pace.
My two interesting take-aways were: 1- His thoughts on Bill Gates and much of what Gates has done was driven by his divorce with Melinda. 2- The idea that maybe what isn't the most important about AI isn't what is about to come, but what has already happened. AI passing the Turing test is a big deal, it is just going to take some time for the effects to penetrate society. As Bitcoiners, we recognize the time it takes for society to adapt and respond to changes in technology.
I was pleasantly surprised to see lots of Thiel haters in the replies of Joe’s Instagram clip who cited @Whitney Webb

I haven't finished watching, yet, but he struck me as someone who knows a lot more than he's willing to reveal and was constantly searching for the right words very carefully.
