@9327e81c I don't really see the hypocrisy here. Petroleum isn't ever going to go away entirely, and nor should it. There are valuable and important, non-trivial, non-wasteful applications of it. Aviation is a tiny, tiny facet of its use which has major economic importance. Commercial passenger air travel is orders of magnitude more efficient than vehicular transportation no matter which way you cut it, and this can scale further. Additionally, aviation is moving into biofuels, which are even more efficient and far more sustainable. I honestly don't understand people's hangups with aviation in regards to climate change or fossil fuel utilization when it's hardly a contributor compared to so many other contributors, it's making monumental gains in alternative fuel technologies, it's of huge economic importance, and we don't have any viable alternatives away from thermal combustion modes of thrust generation.
