Question for my US frens about Airsoft. Is this an Airsoft gun in any way?

I believe it to be a hoity toity Nerf style toy that we bought off Amazon for our son. The Australian gummint, however, have accused us of importing a prohibited weapon into the country. I'm not joking, we could be charged. https://i.nostr.build/172BFDld7YC4gVrE.jpg https://i.nostr.build/ccd7oPr292gk37L7.jpg
it's a nerf gun but guns are bad mkay, you need to be put on detention
also, no, airsoft means electric spring propelled repeat fire 5-6mm plastic (biodegradable) projectiles that are fired fast enough to cause a minor injury if it hits you in the eye
have they banned paintball there yet as well? those fire fast enough to cause a minor eye injury as well
Paintball guns are now seen as firearms, you need a gun licence. That's been law for decades. Gell blasters are also now firearms, quite recently, after one guy went around shooting out of a car.
you'll have police inspecting your house for kitchen knives before you know it
 And our phones for apps.

Next lockdown, or thereabouts, I'd say.
portugal is crappy but madeira is kinda ok, there's no way they'd have an easy time pushing that shit here

in springtime the valleys ring out with the sound of farmers shooting rabbits while their plants are small and tasty... most of the cops can't walk up these hills but all the farmers do this all day long
i swear the low iodine and selenium in the soil down there makes people so apathetic and fatalistic

i couldn't stand being in this environment where the lowest were dragging everyone down and not hardly anyone was fighting back

literally so few people i met in australia who actually had any spirit, i could count them on maybe 2 hands and several of them don't live there anymore
My grandfather's generation were nothing like us.

Its not the soil, its the culture.
Genes and environment both affect culture and culture to some degree will determine which genes are more prevalent in the next generation, continuing to drive cultural shift.
yeah, but the soil doesn't help, it does make people more relaxed and lower energy

which means they are easier to herd around and dominate by the ruling class

so you see culture of passivity is only partly acquired through social interaction, it's also partly based on a biochemical situation, and because people are so passive, when there's something that needs to be fought against, people impede and shrug their shoulders and "she'll be right mate"
I would suggest the modern culture of snitching is behind more of this than is apparent. And the social atomisation from frequent internal migration and urbanisation.

Our WW2 generation were never described as passive and compliant. Especially not by the British and other europeans.
snitching is a marker of socialism, both fascist and communist variants

my parents were 1951 and their parents were 1930s, i'm not sure which generation you are talking about

my grandparents generation were fierce, but they are almost all dead now, the "boomer" generation (my parents) were taught to be snitches and submissive, it was already in full effect in the 60s... the entire UN state worship bullshit mindset was already bedded in by the generation that had kids in the 70s and by the 90s in australia the worst kind of people were in charge of everything
Facts. My grandparents were born in the 1920s, thats who I had in mind
obviously we are children of the 70s :)
[ LIV sits up taller on his cushions as he hopes nobody realises that he was born in the 80s ]
 hehe
You got a loicense for that children’s toy?! 🧸
 It's the Gulag for us.
In usa an airsoft gun is totally legal. They only thing is that the airsoft gun needs the orange tip. The tip of the barrel needs to be orange
Cool, here in Aus they are totally banned, you can't even own one with a gun licence.
I don’t know anything about airsoft but looks like the ammo is plastic BBs not whatever that is. I assume this is air propelled?
As far as we know, a little puff of air fires the foam nerf dart out, it doesn't have plastic bb's
it will be pretty epic if australia govt is now calling literal nerf guns firearms

neither airsoft nor painballs use FIRE

nerf is an AIR based projectile system, so are they going to say now that it doesn't matter that it is sold with foam ones because "woo you could put spikes on the end of them or something" you dirty irresponsible weapon lover
I almost, almost, want to get charged, so I can stand in front of a judge holding a fucking nerf gun while explaining what an airsoft gun is.
australian summary jurisdiction judges are assholes, they are basically barely more than the buddy of the prosecution lawyer, whose job is to get a conviction no matter what... i mean, what are tehy, magistrate courts

and the lawyers are all buddy buddy with each other, i don't wish that on you, i went through my process fighting licensure, drew on old laws from british law that the constitution specifically grandfathers in, the magistrate spent almost an hour reading irrelevant case law, not addressing the fact that old british laws specifically prohibited government monopolies

these weapons laws are based on the idea that simply having a "weapon" is a crime and thus everything else works backwards to reinforce that, it's prejudicial, so, i hope you don't get any problem with it... if they have already seized it, you just need to maybe get a lawyer to consult on how you are going to avoid as much as possible being prosecuted over it because it's ridiculous

and just a fresh reminder why i don't live in that shithole country
