Custodial wallets are ideal for zapping and two of the best wallets threw in the towel. Wallet of Satoshi pulled out of the US and Alby doesn’t offer their custodial wallet to new users anywhere any more.
I didn’t know about WoS pulling out from the US! I’m admittedly behind on news. What are good wallet alternatives for zaps and small payments?
In the US it’s kind of limited when it comes to custodial wallets. Primal is probably the easiest and most reliable for zaps.
Me over here still using custodial Alby. You can send and receive zaps with strike in the US.
Yea existing custodial Alby users still have access until they shut it down completely. They’ve lowered the limits so it’s not as useful. But still works for relatively small stuff like zaps
I send with Alby because of NWC. One tap zaps in Amethyst are so nice. I receive to strike just because I like getting the notifications.
If and when Alby is no longer an option, CoinOS also supports NWC now. I forgot about that one earlier.
I'm not familiar with that one. I'll have to look it up.
It’s a browser based wallet. They’re on Nostr @Coinos
How do I set that up?
Login to your CoinOS account and then tap the gear icon (circled below) and then reveal NWC. Copy and paste that NWC link into your Nostr app. Treat it like a private key because anyone else with that NWC link can access your CoinOS funds. Best to use small amounts. https://m.primal.net/LNzo.jpg
I saw yesterday people were having a hard time receiving zaps using Coinos
Ive had some issues with it not sending zaps too.
Nice. I integraded mine with Snort. Thanks
True. I was able to confirm it the hard way. The wallet receives sats, but for some reason it fails to receive zaps.
I forgot about @Coinos but they’re also an option in the US. Browser based wallet. Supports NWC
Alby hub is absolutely phenomenal, although there is a barrier to entry. You either need to be able to host it yourself (super easy if you know docker) or pay for them to host it for you.
Neither is ideal if your only use for it is zaps.
