What we can do to make nostr more friendly to all:
1. Better onboarding: follow lists of hashtags
2. Other login methods: keys over email. Don’t shoot the messenger!
3. Hardware key management
4. Abstracting away technical info and using progressive discovery to learn over time
5. Better accounts to follow recommendations (news feeds, clone feeds, non-bitcoiner recommendations)
6. Mute lists - option to edit
7. Personalized algos (optional)
8. More content
9. Regular user testing implementing the feedback
10. Micro targeted communities - identify which communities are good candidates and go after them. (Streaming, music, as examples)
11. Traditional marketing. Every client worries about their own marketing.
12. SEO
13. Community incentives - incentivize “leaders” to onboard their circles
14. Normie clients with bitcoin stuff disabled by default optional in settings

Have you seen this client? Their onboarding wizard is p nice and is trying to solve a lot of the problems brought up in #nostrasia and generally spoken about as major complaints (too much b!tcoin content).

there is not “too much” of anything. that is the natural expression of the people who populate nostr.
i dont talk about bitcoin all the time because i’m interested in other things.
if there IS “too much” of something its people trying to turn nostr into something it isnt because they long for profit and popularity, and are too controlling to allow things to grow naturally.
What about a username and password, but in the backend it is the hash or a random algorithm that creates the key pair? Not sure how that works, doesn’t solve the lost key or ‘password’ though.

Gamifying learning about clients would be cool. If there was a way to collect badges from doing certain things in the client and show off you've done it.
It worked for PlayStation and Xbox games and might encourage users to collect more.

I know its dumb... but if non custodial wallets are popular to onboard. Wouldnt a non custodial nostr service do it too? Just think if a service held relays, gave you your account using an email and can recover through it, also advertise who is posting and is popular on said service, and also provide services directly like translations and etc. Think the all in one service for nostr onboarding could help.
I think a big thing i missing here on this too is making it so when you follow someone it automatically will add relays that best provide that persons content.
