 You store the number of npubs you follow, so generally this is an accurate number, but you have to try to keep tabs on who follows you when they interact, which makes it much less accurate and dependent on the relays you interrogate and your cache.

 Nostr has no central entity... that's the whole point. We are not playing with a numbers here. :) 
If you rearrange your relays and some got removed, it may happen that some of your followers will lost you.
