I use Notion for basically my entire my life (work, docs, calendars, etc). I don’t like the new AI integration and do not trust them with my data. Is it possible to have a Notion-like #nostr client? #asknostr
I continue with my classic planner, so I can practice calligraphy and muscle memory 💁🏻♀️
I do use a written planner occasionally, but Notion allows me to build a personalized “webpage” for so many areas of my life. I’ve got entire pages dedicated to archiving my hiking, fishing, ski trips, art collection, etc. Would be amazing to have this ability on Nostr.
What’s Notion?
A productivity app. Super powerful. https://www.notion.so/
@TheGuySwann Anything like this? Or at least more self custodial.
Thinking about switching to Notion from Evernote. Do you have any experience with migration?
There is a Nostr plugin for Obsidian. I don’t know of a client specifically that would let you organize things like Notion though. I got really annoyed with Notion because I was trapped in their system with how they do their notes specifically. I switched to the .md ecosystem with Logseq, Obsidian, Roam, and a number of other apps and haven’t looked back. I can open all of my notes in any or all of these apps and just copy folders to save or backup things. No complicated exporting or formatting changes, etc. That said, integrating that with Nostr is tricky if you don’t want to share literally all of your notes and/or you want to organize your Nostr notes in a file system like way. My basic thinking on this would be to just have a note taking app with Nostr integration automatically save and download every note from your Nostr pubkey by default, then you can organize them from there. Lots you can do with this idea though. If I wasn’t focused on other things this would be a great one to tackle
There is a new type of interesting apps. so called local-first apps with always on offline mode, e2ee & fast p2p sync. I discovered https://anytype.io/ for myself. it has similar to Notion UX
how does it feel that the Notion AI knows more about your life than you?
No different than any other major application/company that already does. This is why I would like to move towards self-hosting and hope everyone does as well. It is time for us all to take back our god-given right to privacy by making it the default. If the product is free, you are the product.
