In Russia, mate is not really consumed; if it is, it's cocido. I’ve read somewhere that there are 30,000 mate consumers in Russia, and they drink it exactly the same way as in Argentina.
Here, too, Mate Cocido can be boiled, but it comes in tea bags. It's another way of taking it.
Russia is a tea country, and for most people, it's just "another tea." The 30,000 Russians who drink it in the Latin American style, with mate, a bombilla, and not steeping it in boiling water, are the ones who consume it that way. Based on my impression, I think the real number is probably three times smaller 😅
