i don't know if i believe in karma, but i do believe that you can positively influence other people with your behavior.
It doesn’t work for many. I think positive nice people piss off angry people even more.
up to a certain level, but at some point they give up and are also nice, at least that's my experience

Nah, man you are doing it right. Those that don't treat you the way you treat them, you either have to communicate it to them because sometimes people are oblivious or separate yourselves from them. No need to go down to their level. In business sometimes you have to be more stern though.
