Asia FX weakens as Fed minutes brew rate fears, boost dollar

Most Asian currencies weakened and nursed overnight losses as the minutes of the Federal Reserve's recent meeting boosted the dollar amid concerns over higher interest rates. The minutes showed policymakers were growing increasingly concerned over sticky inflation and some officials were ready to raise rates further. The prospect of a renewed US-China trade war and Chinese military drills near Taiwan also spooked traders. The dollar rose to a one-week high, while most Asian currencies logged sharp overnight declines against the greenback. The Chinese yuan rose slightly and was trading just below a six-month high.
