Hey #Nostr, I'm currently in a pretty intensive course and I am having a real hard time staying focused. I'm looking for suggestions on possible nootropic supplements that may help me out. Or any other advise. I really have a hard time keeping focused, I get distracted super easy.

I’m ADD AF so I’ve done various things

Leaving myself post it notes in various places

Using notes on my phone for reminders

Setting alarms 🚨 that say things as sad as WALK around

But also probably undiagnosed autistic as my friends have pointed out things the last year that make a lot of sense. Not self diagnosis though.

Hope this helps 🫂
Do you do anything specific to stay focused, for example sitting at a desk watching a tutorial? My mind wanders pretty quick unless it’s something that really interests me.
Purdue University did a study years ago that proved if someone is writing it helps the human brain to retain what they are listening to.

✍️

It can be doodles or anything … doesn’t even have to be related to watch you’re listening too … your brain retains it better than just watching. 🫂

Also, I believe that in some Asian countries they use ( or did ) lemon 🍋 water in schools. The nose associates with what they are taught & helps retain it.

You sound a lot like one of my kiddos. Work in 15 minute increments then take a five minute break.
Thanks for the info/advice.. doodles I can do..lol

Going to definitely try the lemon water.

Tell your kids the struggle is real, I'm 50+ yrs old...lol
Super long & I go off on a tangent so feel free to not read. No offense taken. Hugs 🫂

You’re welcome. 😇 THANK YOU 🙏 as you just helped me tremendously. I must set a schedule & use it. It’s on my list as I just started working again the last two weeks. HUGE THANKS 🙏 RESPECT 🫡 Respect ✊

The best compliment I ever received was from my sister. My kiddos were all teens then. She said something similar to: Your kids are so cool. They all are different & follow their own beliefs. Unique & different people but definitely their own people.

Me literally cried 😭😭😭. My kiddos to my sister and family: “She’s not upset, she just feels emotionally so sometimes she cry’s.”

And WOW 🤩 JUST REMEMBERED THAT. Thanks 🙏

Either way: their father and I coparented them ( with help from **overall** well
Chosen partners ) & my kiddos didn’t have the simplest life so they get all my respect (but not guilt) that their father & I divorced.

They grew up in different houses but NOW I see they all turned out to be fierce adults who are genuinely loving & empathetic. My goal was for them to be happy but luckily the Universe gave them more. Grateful 🥹

My kiddos learn from the world. 🌏 They learned from watching me &
Others that the world doesn’t revolve around them. Thank goodness. They grew up “wealthy” but aren’t spoiled beef jerky.

#parenting #asknostr #Organization

At one time I lived out of calendar. Wasn’t diagnosed as ADD until I was 30. My parents said they knew but
Left
Me untreated as I was an A student. Me: I could have went to an IVY … Branches again

Super early adopter of hand-held PDA. It was actually a #Christmas gift 🎁 & my favorite of that year 🤣🤣🤣.

Long ago while at a mother’s support group (MOPS) some of the other mothers asked how I was so organized. At that time I had three littles all under 4 & was a college student (left active duty & was national guard but not full time: just weekends then)

Me: I’m not organized.

They kindly explained I always show up early or on time & none of my kids ever have dirty clothes.

Me: ( looks around confused 😕) Witness all the other children playing 🤣.

Laughing 🤣 “OHHH. I get it now. Yeah, I live out of my calendar. If it’s not on the calendar it doesn’t happen”

One: “But what about being spontaneous?”

Me: The weekend is open for four hours on Saturday for just that.

“You plan your spontaneity”

Me: I plan my sex life too.

Blank stares.
 Breathing exercises.

Example: 4 seconds of inhalation, 8 seconds holding, 8 seconds of exhalation 4 seconds holding.
Inhale first with the diaphragm and then ascend, exhale first from the chest and then descend.
If you want to be able to focus on something for a long time, there is no other way but through practice. You can use the awareness of your breath flowing in and out of your nose. Gradually practice for 1 minute, 2 minutes, or several minutes, and you will become more proficient through your training. A quiet place, when your stomach is not too full, and when you are not under the influence of alcohol—these are conditions that help make your practice more effective. Another tip … make your profile pic a reminder for big project 😂🫂🤘
