Reply bots could be fun if they would just speak in short quips instead of writing a fucking book for every reply. Brevity is the soul of wit and they have neither.
I’m thinking of it like Nostr has a cold. The immune system devs are probably going to think up a solution at some point and the problem will subside. Until the next one…

Email is still dealing with it, but the end-user rarely has an issue currently. The good news is that ReplyGuy dev didn't launch with all the tricks happening at once. He's slowly rolling out the tricks a bad actor could use to make Nostr very impractical. This allows the network (us), and client/relay devs to respond; upping our game before a serious bad actor decides to clog Nostr.
The internet has become a new frontline for war. Motivated actors will use bots to both promote their culture and ideologies as well as drown out or demoralize others. That was always the case with propaganda but the tools and infrastructure we have today enables it at a scale none of us are prepared for. Webs of trust communicating over neutral networks like Nostr are part of the solution but we’ll need more.
