#WritersCoffeeClub 16: Do you have prologues? How do you feel about them? I use prologues when they add a special flavour to the story. In This Is How Immortals Die, the prologue shows Carys choosing her epithet as she officially joins the Order of Aphrodite. This is an important sequence that sets up a lot of stuff - including for future books -, but it happens 60 years before the book's main events, so I "separate" it from the rest. Alexandria's prologues also show events out of order.
@66e742bb I've seen a lot of this. Some authors are so paranoid about calling it a prologue that they call it Chapter One, 60 Years Before. Whatever works. If it gives me a glimpse of needed insight I'm onboard. 😃
