I think Nostr is more about being able to listen clearly than being able speak freely. Yes - not being cancelled by thin skinned thought police is cool, but it's only 1 ingredient in the magic sauce.

Like Bitcoin solving money, Nostr solves a problem that I'd almost stopped noticing.

The ability to tune into what is said from specific sources without sifting through a heap of noise. There's no way to do this any more without trusting another centralised party that will ultimately be compromised. How do I know I'm hearing everything that is being broadcasted by a source? How do I get rid of unsolicited noise that's being thrown at me?

Yes there's noise on Nostr, but that's mostly on us for tuning in to noisy frequencies.
