New on here. can someone sum up for me what the need is for social media? I don't understand it's purpose. If I get a good reason I will stay and if not I will move on quietly. The only reason behind my effort with this app is I think Jack Dorsey is fantastic and the world does need to move in a decentralized way. There too much control, people gripping onto power at the expense of others. We all need our freedom back.

Maybe there is no need for social media. This is my AA bc I haven't taken the time for IRL community/family where I'm located and have spent years drifting into stronger social media habits.
on the positive side, there's a whole community of people connecting here with amazing ideas that perhaps they can't share with their friends and family. It extends the family/community who are open to new ideas.
