Judge denies Alec Baldwin request to drop indictment for 'Rust' shooting

A New Mexico judge has denied Alec Baldwin's request to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge for the 2021 shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin's lawyers argued that the grand jury indictment was a sham, but the judge denied the request. The trial is scheduled to begin on July 10. Hutchins was shot with a live round after Baldwin pointed a gun at her on a film set near Santa Fe. Baldwin maintains he did not pull the trigger. The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for loading the live round into the gun.
