Everyday I open up Nostr and my timeline is filled with Pro Bitcoin memes and slogans, But rarely do you guys post education on how to setup and balance lightning channels, and whats required on setting up a node. I've never seen a single person discuss the cost minimums of swapping into lightning vs buying channels on-chain. Rather than treat Monero users like they don't exist or are shit-fucking-homeless.. actually show us how to use lightning
Check out https://darthcoin.substack.com/, @DarthCoin I have learned a lot from his posts.
oh and @BTCsessions https://www.youtube.com/@BTCSessions
Yes and yes The reason you don’t see many posts about education is this particular ‘platform’ of Nostr isn’t the IDEAL place to post stuff like that at the moment. I think @TheGuySwann (or one of his guests) was recently lamenting how it seems L2 is changing every 6 months. It’s hard, but so are the best things in life.
Ok sure thanks for the tip.
@DuhLaurien ✌🏻👽💨 @Spencer posted this on Nostr recently. https://podverse.fm/episode/SmqJlJjtj
ok thank you
You can just ask instead of whining
I apologize for the misunderstanding. I did not mean that I personally needed help, as we got the lightning node setup already. Instead, this post promotes the idea that Nostr in general as a sub-culture, should re-think the virtue signal angle, and partially replace it with educational on-boarding, for new users. As there is no value in a meme, if one cannot act on it.
There are a bunch of resources out there for these things, but social media isn’t exactly designed for tutorials. It’s kinda built for memes and short videos or media and the like. I think this might just be the wrong environment for the type of content you seem to be looking for. But if you wanted resources all you have to do is ask, people are more than happy to help. But I suspect “asking” by basically saying “you all suck and never help anyone,” is likely to get you a lot LESS assistance… thus confirming what you have already decided is true. Just sayin. For resources: I can’t think of a tutorial or info that @BTCsessions hasn’t covered on his channel. I always direct people over there first.

Ah! Gotcha. I see what you mean and that’s probably a good idea too

Force closures will kill any meager profits you make over months.
Rebalancing manually is pointless. You need to get lucky with a cheap route. You only have a chance for that if you use automated tools and attempt rebalance like once a minute! 😂
Have you used Liquid to rebalance? I've heard it's done, but never tried it.
Lndg is good enough for me. I don't use external services to rebalance, insane fees. Patience is required.
ok thanks for the tip
monero be shitcoin. we do not shitcoin.
ok.... so you can't even tell someone how to swap into lightning? But you can tell a fiat dude? So you're saying fiat is better?
Speak for yourself
There: Easiest and fastest, but almost most expensive, how to start on fully self custodial lightning: 1) have a UTXO of at least 1M sats 2) buy a @Start9 or @umbrel 3) watch the @BTCsessions YouTube video titled UMBREL - How To Use Your Bitcoin and Lightning Node (NEW) 4) open a channel to @The Nodestrich ♾️ or @LNServer 5) download @ZEUS on your phones, sync with your node, btcsessions also has content on this. If you have more money than time, this is how to do it on easy mode.
that's like installing arch from scratch but it cost money. you're insane if you think that counts as an easy mode.
I think it only took me ~ 2 hours including watching the BTCsessions video. So not exactly terrible. Not saying it’s EASY, just the easiest way I know of
In my honest opinion, lightning is a failed attempt at fixing a problem. It's cool but it really only functions best with centralized nodes. It's ridiculous to expect someone to open a channel and have to risk precious bitcoin. the whole setup is a mess, not user intuitive and really it's sad.

Yes I've seen that guy's docs. Unfortunately, he would not sell liquidity (connect to us for a fee)
