A recent Google survey reveals that more than 75% of developers and IT professionals rely on artificial intelligence (AI) for at least one daily professional responsibility. While AI adoption is increasing rapidly, nearly 40% of respondents expressed little or no trust in AI-generated code. The study also found a positive correlation between AI adoption and increased flow, productivity, job satisfaction, code quality, and internal documentation quality. However, AI adoption was accompanied by a decrease in delivery stability, with an estimated reduction of 7.2%. The researchers urge companies to adopt measures such as change management practices and a platform-engineering approach to mitigate the downsides.
