Taking strangers along on trips? Not where I live.
America? Since I am not American, can't say for sure, but I don't think it's common. But if it's kid's friends, then I have heard stories of kids bringing their friends along on trips.
I see.
Is it normal in your area to take a friend's girlfriend, whom you have never met?
Haha.... Where I live, girlfriends/boyfriends itself is a very sensitive topic to be handled with care.
So suddenly bringing them on trip will be odd. But if it's engaged, then it may be okay, but that too only in some cases.
👆 note is for family trips.
If it's a group trip among friends, bringing girlfriends/boyfriends is mostly okay i -- if it's not just one person bringing their girlfriend/boyfriend (so that they too can have some company)
Certainly in Japan, introducing a boyfriend/girlfriend to family can be a special event.
For example, a pre-marriage meeting.
Same in India too...🫂
Before marriage generally
*Dropping hints about boyfriend/girlfriend (this needs to be timed properly)
*Proposal meeting with parents
*Ring exchange/Engagement ceremony
*Pre-wedding religious ceremony (Puja) depending on community
Then
*Wedding ceremony & reception
*Post wedding home-coming ceremony
It's a long process 😝
It's a long process!
Puja and post wedding home-coming ceremonies are very interesting because we don't have this culture in Japan!
But other than that, the Japanese marriage process is very similar.
