So many interesting convos going on about an (alleged) American habit of not buttering bread (and perhaps using mayo instead but I assume not on sweet sandwiches). @6adf5d3d opened pandora's box with her comment on some sandwich observations in the US. I think I have learnt more than I wanted to know about US sandwich habits.

And just for the record, here we routinely butter bread, even if it contains, as part of a filling, mayo, avocado or hummus. It may differ between individuals but in general, butter is a thing. #Straya
