 I’m curious if njump or any of the other web viewer services do better.  I think getting this right is important because it should be our primary channel for viral and community growth.

 They are related in the sense that they are trying to accomplish the same thing. If you replace the domain damus.io with njump.me and vice-versa (keeping the encoded note id afterwards) you should be able to try both.
