 Oh well. Serve me right for my time optimism..
The train conductor assures me my ticket is still valid for onward travel, but I wonder if I will be sitting or standing to Dusseldorf...

 @ad951bfd the DB oracle spits out high demand expected (you most likely know that already), but recently this has been wrong quite often. Also the IC to Düsseldorf 16:50 only has high demand until Osnabrück/Münster so at least there might be a seat available for the last two hours.
🤞 Hope it turns out well.
 @8d0e3c19 i have another satapoint to confirm this actually! I made the 2nd train and there are *plenty* of spare seats...
 @ad951bfd

My trick in those cases is: head straight to the bistro/restaurant.

Usually, there is always a place to sit. And to have a tea is always a good idea.

Good luck!
 @f5f2cf0f yes! That's also my trick - did lead to me eating an unexpectedly large breakfast on a Czech train from Berlin once though....😳😁
 On the last stretch from Düsseldorf to Utrecht. It's been a long but fairly productive day, I get to do this in reverse later this week and then all over again next week...

 @ad951bfd We absolutely need a fast and direct railway between Amsterdam and Hamburg. Really strange that there is not one already.
 @70b3de28 A sleeper train too would be wonderful (again, I remember there used to be one).
 @ad951bfd @70b3de28 indeed there are daily connections offered by Snälltåget, leaving Hamburg around 23:00!

 @d627294b @70b3de28 Yeah I'm happy the Berlin sleeper at least is back, but it would be nice to get Amdterdam and/or Brussels as well... I took the Amsterdam sleeper once before it was abolished...
 @ad951bfd @70b3de28 or Paris…one can dream!
 @d627294b @70b3de28
Yep all of those - imagine Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Zagreb too..

 @ad951bfd I sometimes book a seat on the next train when I see it is unlikely I'll make a connection. It only costs 6 euros in the DB app - from my seat on the late running train. It is worth it if the second leg is long.
 @20e33bb6 I was trying to work out how to do that in the app too, without success... but in the end it's been ok, I've had a seat on all trains.
