The New England Patriots have released veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster after a preseason game. According to head coach Jerod Mayo, the decision was made to give younger players more opportunities and reps. Smith-Schuster signed a three-year contract with the team in 2023 but struggled with knee and ankle injuries last season. His release leaves behind $9.6 million in dead money for 2024 and $2.6 million for 2025.
