Let us pray to the Lord:
Eternal and Ever-Living God, Source of goodness and grace: we come before You, seeking Your Heavenly Benediction upon this Democratic National Convention.
Grant unto the nominee for President of these United States, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, to pursue the highest offices in the Land with love, with hope, and with faith in our Nation.
Grant unto the Delegates to engage with their fellow citizens in a spirit of joy and duty, always seeking the best for our country.
We also ask special blessings upon President Joseph R. Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and all their family; for he has given a lifetime of service and sacrifice to the American People, and has stood with nobility and integrity upon the international stage to lead in the best of the United States.
Finally, we ask that You protect and defend the Armed Forces who protect and defend us, so that in peace and security we may offer to You, the One True God, the praise that is Your due.
“Amen!”

I need to do a better job of praying for our nation's leaders. They seem to promote so much evil, but that only means they need Jesus even more. It is wrong to pray that their evil deeds come to fruition, but it is good to pray that they will come to know the God and creator of the world and the savior. It is good to pray that they would follow God and His precepts. It is good to pray that God would control their actions for His good.
>First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. Such prayer for all is good and welcomed before God our Savior, since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2.1-4 NET.
So true.
I think I have been so focused on end times prophecy and it all ending, that I have pulled back a little too much from the here and now especially where the world, my nation, and politics are concerned.
On the other hand my focus on end times has made me more aware that I need to be witnessing and discipling and bringing people to Jesus because the time is short.
I absolutely need to do the same. During services at my church we usually do say some prayers for them but I never really do when I’m praying on my own and I should. The one we say a couple times at church is “For our country, the president, all those in public service, and for our armed forces everywhere, let us pray to the Lord.” Or generally like that and then the congregation responds “lord have mercy” maybe every time any of this election campaigning stuff starts to irritate me (as it generally does 😅) I will try to say that prayer instead of just staying frustrated
Great idea!
And I got so frustrated today so perfect timing 😂 thank you for the inspiration!! 🙏🏻
