 I'm all in favour of war with the US but what you want there is a bunch of nuclear subs to annihilate the coasts.

They were stupid not to use a nuclear propulsion.

The QE Carriers have to refuel every 3 days while in-transit... meaning huge vulnerability and tempting target fast oilers to hang out near the Strike Group.

...oh, and low speeds while refueling... making it take much longer to traverse the world's oceans. 

 Okay, and what exactly is the hurry?  Who exactly is going to be fucking with a NATO carrier group?  With nuclear you'd need another entire carrier, they need a lot of down time.

Nuclear carriera need less downtime than Gas Turbines.

They are never refueled... 40-50 years with one fuel load, the life of the carrier. 

 They don't need refuelling.  They need a LOT of downtime.
