As hilarious as this is, I also think it's pretty cool and as convoluted as it is, it's something that will definitely feel like something new and exciting.

"They just lifted the bill from our point of sale and then paid it from their own phone!! - Magic!"  

 It just occurred to me that this does provide something: it's safer to tap your card on your own phone and have it do the communication than to rely on the merchant's device. But it's also 2 steps instead of 1. 🤔
