@afb67fcd  tThe lens system may now be obsolete (Canon says it isn't but you can't buy new bodies anymore), I have a spare m100 doing nothing so it seems like a good option. It was a surprisingly good little astro camera. 

 @3225906e yes I got some pretty nice aurora shots with my first gen "M". I actually then got an unfiltered M2 which is what I'm using now. Unfortunately nobody has ported magic lantern software to the M2 though...
