Some people believe 50+ yrs ago we had tech that allowed us to zip through the Van Allen belt without critical-level radiation damage, but for some reason modern Astronautics doesn't allow for it today. 

 oh well isn't it also quite symbolic that NASA also lost all the records of the flight and original footage...
