Took a while, but I explained the debt clock and how it's impossible for the state to fix it; how presidents don't make any meaningful decisions for our country anymore; I showed him the Bitcoin maps website; explained how to spend bitcoin without the use of banks or credit card companies; explained how banks and credit card companies are ancient institutions; and a lot of other stuff.

https://map.bitcoin.com/ just in case you haven't heard of it
 wow
that's incredible.
i couldn't imagine a universe in which my dad would listen to me. it's awesome that you have a relationship in which you can share things and be receptive and open. especially something like bitcoin. i find that people are either really open to it or really closed off to it.

was this something gradual, over multiple conversations??
It took years to convince him. Why doesn't your dad listen to you?
oh, my dad was very opinionated; it was difficult talking *with* him about much, especially in disagreements. it was more or less just being talked *at* if we talked. but he was like that with everyone as far as i can remember. there was never really a point in which he'd be curious to understand a different view.
