"I can trust Nostr because there's no decision that someone running Nostr can make that can take Nostr away from me." — nostr:nprofile1qqs8d3c64cayj8canmky0jap0c3fekjpzwsthdhx4cthd4my8c5u47spzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxtnnda3kjctvll3q2p
...unless you don't know who your relays are... which is true for most people right now.

Relay operators can close their relay at anytime.

Same for image/video servers.

AND

...unless your app developer or signer app developer goes nuts and makes deletion events to all of your posts and publishes them all without your authorization.

Nostr still needs plenty of trust between players.

Delegating that trust to third parties just adds another rug pull operator.
Wen amethyst blossom so I don't have to trust

Are you saying we going BlueSky 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Be the nostr that no one can take away from you

True, barring the use of rogue clients or low-quality relays.
My reference point is Google Wave. New platform being spun out from a big co, lots of innovative features, credible team, shutdown. All time and capital invested in building on the platform wasted, and it didn't matter what users wanted at all.

So long as users use Nostr, it lives. That is a pretty strong guarantee
 Except shut off their relay.
If you get used to posting your cool pictures to something like Instagram or Flickr, you can a lot about your pictures and your picture-based presence on social media.

Opensource app devs have gone wild before and there is a chance of repo hacking by a third party.

You can't revert deletions.

Yes, it's way less trust. But there is still a lot of trust. Especially for users that are just running the apps with default relay sets that can disappear at any moment.

In both of your examples media came from a camera or a phone so there’s likely a backup.

Yes people with default relays will have to figure out how to get around that, but at least there are options.
How do you get around it?
Use more and different relays ..
Make it less than trivial for users to host their own relays. A no-brainer relay on every device you own and one or two in the cloud.
Extra points: users' sovereign relays also serve themselves their clients, so there is no trust problem.
