When you really think about it.. your job doesn't pay you for your work, it is renting your life. Anything else you allow and let in is a welcomed guest or a freeloader.

I’m definitely more aware of this as AI is getting better. I’m just doing a robot’s job because the robot isn’t smart enough yet.
it's just a modernity thing. most aspects of human needs are almost entirely automated, but we still need structures to organize societies around and keep advancing. that's why so many people feel like their work is meaningless since it's mostly around producing higher order things to consume - because people also really like to consume
