@hodlbod we were discussing how bitcoiners are the early critical mass on nostr with the #damus team.

I believe key to bringing on steady growth could be speaking with non-bitcoin (i.e. folks who are on nostr not because of bitcoin) communities, and asking how might we make their nostr experience even better.

Take the Christian nostriches.

Are there non-bitcoiner Christian nostriches who joined?

Joined nostr and left (if yes, why)?

Joined and remain (why?)

How might we improve the experience for these folks, and make it even easier, more pleasant, and enticing to join nostr for more of these folks?
Hard to say, but probably. I haven't even started onboarding my friends onto nostr yet, because until recently I had no way to deal with porn. At this point, with WoT score I think things are safe and inoffensive enough that someone can wade into the shallow end. My people are much less interested in global social media than in local social media, so private groups may be more their speed. I'll start working on adoption once I have a good solution together for that.
That’s a fair concern. Do we need WOT if we have private relay? Do we need private relay if we have WOT?
I think they reinforce each other. A private relay is exclusive, but can still have subgroups who many not be interested in talking to each other (a politically divided town with angry outliers for example). WoT is enough to mute people you don't want to hear from, but not hide your content from them. So we need both.
